Westfields care ‘Good’ in every way!

When the service was inspected and a report issued in June 2016, there were areas where the CQC inspector felt that the service needed to improve.  The team at Westfields acted on the recommendations made by CQC and the final full report from this follow-up inspection has shown that the team have made great improvements, so much so the service is now rated as ‘Good’ across all five categories.

As a thank you to colleagues for their dedication and hard work, and to the residents for their kind words during the inspection, we invited everyone at Westfields along to a celebratory lunch on 5th December.

All had a good time, and you couldn’t keep the residents in their seats as they danced and sung all through the afternoon and into the early evening.

‘Good’ CQC award for Human Support Group – Gloucester

IMG_3293 IMG_3296 IMG_3307 IMG_3325

A care provider who took over hundreds of care packages celebrates with ‘Good’ CQC rating

Gloucestershire’s Human Support Group took over the care of hundreds of vulnerable individuals earlier this year and are now celebrating their first CQC rating.

Following the collapse of care provider Cleeve Link, Human Support Group are now supporting over 150 individuals, providing nearly 2,000 hours of care across the region, and retaining over 50 employees who were at risk of losing their jobs.

Set up in July 2016, the Gloucestershire branch was recently inspected by the independent regulator of health and adult social care, CQC, and awarded with a ‘Good’ rating.

Human Support Group were approached by Gloucestershire Council Council in March following the news of Cleeve Link going into liquidation. At the time, 116 service users were at risk of losing the care and support they were receiving.

With a carefully managed transition process, service users received no disruption to their care and support needs, with many retaining their existing carer.

Shirley Hoy, care user, commented: “I think the transfer was brilliant and I had no problems at all, the carers during the transfer were all really good. I know they had some difficulties but it didn’t stop how they treated me and the professional care they gave me.”
Care Assistant Krystyna Uniewicz, added: “I’m very, very happy with the transfer. I love the atmosphere here and appreciate working for Human Support Group. I was very satisfied when my hourly rate of pay was increased as soon as we transferred.”

Dan O’Donoghue, Managing Director, Human Support Group: “We worked very closely with Gloucestershire County Council at all stages of the transfer to ensure that staff and service users were aware of every stage of the process. The Gloucestershire branch is relatively new and I am really proud of how the team, old and new, has managed the transfer and achieved a very positive first CQC inspection result.”

The CQC report noted that staff have access to training to equip them with knowledge and skills and that they feel supported in their role. It added that people receive personalised care and support which reflects their individual preferences, wishes and routines and are treated with kindness, care and sensitivity.
