    Frequently asked questions

How do I arrange a carer with Human Support Group?

Contact a Human Support Group branch local to you and make an appointment for us to visit you for a chat about how we can support you. We are happy to visit you at home to discuss ways we can support you and your family and then, once you have decided, you simply leave us to arrange your care package!
Alternatively enter your details on our quote calculator area on this site to give you an idea of the options available to you and submit to your local branch. A member of the team will then call you back to make arrangements for a visit to your home.

What can my carer support me with?

We agree a ‘Care Plan’ which details exactly the support that you will need at this present time. This then becomes the work list for each day. Click here for details of the care services we can provide.
Over time a ‘Care Plan’ will require updating as your care needs change so we check regularly to ensure that the care we are providing is appropriate to your current requirements.

Will I have the same carers each day?

This depends on your ‘Care Plan’ and how many care visits you have each week. We very rarely have just one carer assigned to a customer. This allows for periods of time where your carer may be away on holiday or off work due to sickness, however we do try to keep the number of your carers to an absolute minimum.

What happens when the branch is closed?

Our offices are normally open from 8.00am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Outside of these hours, we operate an out-of-hours response service, which is manned from 7am to 10pm. The number for our Response Service will be provided for your reassurance, with someone at the end of the telephone line to assist with any emergencies about your care.

    What safeguards do I have?

The Human Support Group is registered with both CQC and CIW. These bodies set the minimum standards by which we operate, however in every case we seek to exceed these minimum standards by a significant margin and currently we have a 95% good or outstanding rating across all of our branches nationwide. We also carry Public Liability insurance.

How do I pay for my care?

We will invoice you on a weekly or four weekly basis, for the service in accordance with our fee schedule. If you wish to pay by standing order (to save you having to remember to write out a cheque) just let us know. Further details can be obtained in the Contract and Terms and Conditions we ask you to sign at the start of your Care Plan.

How much do the Human Support Group care services cost and can I get any help with the fees?

We will work with you to create a detailed ‘Care Plan’ which, as well as setting out the care to be delivered, also shows the weekly costs. You may discover that you are entitled to assistance with the cost of your care either from your local Social Services office or via other Government grants.

How can I be sure that my carer will stay the full period of the care visit and carry out all the agreed tasks detailed in my Care Plan?

We work closely with you to ensure that your care service is exactly what you require. After every visit the carer will write the details of activities undertaken during the visit in the comments book (which is retained by you in your home). We have various recording mechanisms for carers to tag in and out of a visit and in some cases record manually on time sheets this way we can keep an accurate record of the times and visits each carer is responsible for.
